RWC Systems has secured the interiors scope for the new Indigenous Education Centre (IEC) at Thompson Rivers University in Kamloops. The three-storey, 17,300 ft² building will provide dedicated spaces for Indigenous education, including classrooms, faculty offices, Elder gathering areas, and a large community space featuring decorative acoustical ceilings.

RWC’s work will include:

  • Steel stud framing — 43,000 linear feet of studs and tracks
  • Drywall and sheathing — 42,000 ft² of gypsum wallboard and exterior sheathing
  • Insulation — 21,000 ft² of thermal and acoustic insulation
  • Ceilings and finishes — 5,400 ft² of acoustic ceiling tiles, 1,700 ft² of decorative acoustical ceiling panels, 1,500 ft² of decorative acoustical wall panels, and 1,100 ft² of wood slat ceilings

The project, designed with cultural input and architectural detailing to honor Secwépemc traditions, emphasizes high-quality interior finishes that will enhance both the visual and acoustic performance of the space.

Construction will be led by PCL as general contractor, with work scheduled to start on February 27, 2026.
