About the role

RWC is looking or a competent Site Foreman to coordinate operations and oversee workers on RWC project sites. As the point of reference of both workers and supervisors, you will be a key person for the completion of a project.

As an RWC foreman you will have strong leadership skills and extensive experience in the construction industry.  RWC strives for excellence so you must be well-organized, be able to make decisions quickly and favour safety above everything else.

Responsibilities

  • Attend pre-project handover meetings
  • Perform, oversee, and delegate site layout
  • Attend daily or weekly site meetings
  • Perform onsite material & quantity take-off’s if required
  • Ability to manage all jobs on the work site (Including but not limited to, steel stud framing, drywall, and suspended drywall systems, T-bar & shafts) 
  • Enforce all General Contractor guidelines and regulations as well as compliance with all RWC safety requirements
  • Ability to effectively assign tasks to crews
  • Schedule project workforce needs with Project Manager and report to General Contractor
  • Remain up to date with all RWC developments and ensure information is communicated to all crew members
  • Able to recognize, address and resolve issues that arise on site and or between crew members
  • Perform regular quality checks of work that is performed by crews and provide constructive feedback, QAQC.

SKILLS AND ATTRIBUTES

Sound command of the English language, strong communication skills both in written and verbal format, ability to solve problems, be resourceful, ability to run multiple crews simultaneously, knowledge of all aspects of trade, able to read blueprints, proficient in using technology (iPad), and hold a strong aptitude in engineering.

EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING

Technical Qualifications: 10 years of trade experience, holding or pursuing a Red Seal certification, or be competent in all aspects of the trade, Level 1 First Aide, Boom and Scissor lift certification, Fall protection, Supervisors Responsibility Training; experience using software such as Procore, PlanGrid, Field Wire are a strong asset.

Working conditions can vary greatly depending upon the projects assigned to.  Majority of work will be outside or non-enclosed areas, often resulting in prolonged standing, walking, lifting, kneeling, and bending with may be a strenuous physical activity.

Drywall Taper

About the role

RWC is looking for detail-orientated tapers to join our team and your duties will include sealing, joints, repairing cracks, and smoothing imperfections on walls and ceilings to create surfaces that are suitable for final treatment.

To be successful as an RWC taper, you should be able to complete task efficiently while maintaining a high quality of work.

Responsibilities

  • Joining drywall panels using tape and plaster
  • Repairing cracks and any other damage to the drywall panels
  • Concealing any imperfections or exposed irregularities in the drywall surface.
  • Layering plaster or spackle with trowels to create a flat surface
  • Sanding down rough areas on the wall to create a smooth surface
  • Skimming the surface with a final layer of plaster in preparation for finishing work.
  • Managing and maintaining all the required equipment for the job
  • Keeping your supervisor abreast of your progress and reporting any job-related issues
  • Ensuring that all equipment and materials are used safely and effectively

SKILLS AND ATTRIBUTES

Sound communication skills, with the ability to ready and understand blueprints and drawings.  Tolerance for prolonged standing, bending, stretching and being able to work at heights.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

Grade 12, Min 2-3 years’ experience or 1-2 years’ trade school certified in applicable program.

Steel Stud Framer

About the role

RWC is looking for reliable, qualified steel stud framers to join our growing team.  To be successful as an RWC framer, you should be able to completed tasks efficiently while maintaining quality of work.

Responsibilities

  • Cut metal framing and trim to size; cut and screw metal channels.
  • Install horizontal and vertical metal studs to frames so that wallboard can be attached to interior walls
  • Interpret blueprints or other specifications to determine methods of installation, work procedures, material, or tool requirements
  • Measure and cut openings in panels or titles for electrical outlets, windows, vents, plumbing, or other fixtures
  • Measure and layout steel according to blueprints or drawings
  • Remove existing plaster, drywall, or paneling
  • Trim rough edges from wallboard to maintain even joints
  • Hang drywall panels on metal framework

Apprenticeships are open to women, men, and youth. Everyone is welcome, even if you’re in high school, finished college, or simply want a career change, we have a place for you to develop.

Most apprenticeships take four years to complete.

Upon completion of classroom training, on-the-job hours, and a final exam, a certified journeyperson will confirm your skill level and competence. Once you receive your ticket, whether Interprovincial Red Seal, or BC Certificate of Qualification, you’ll be recognized by colleagues and the public as a skilled professional in your trade.

It is both. Apprentices spend about 80% of their time learning on the job. That means you earn money while you learn.

About 20% of your apprenticeship is spent in classroom-based training – also known as technical training.
